Opposition leader R. Ashok has expressed his anger over the CWRC's order to release 3,500 cusecs of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu every day. He alleged that the Karnataka government has surrendered to Tamil Nadu on the issue of Cauvery water sharing and criticized that the interests of the state's farmers have been ignored. In the wake of the CWRC order, the Cauvery water dispute has again become a political debate.
Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah said that the final decision on the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu will be taken. He clarified that the government will hold necessary discussions on the instructions of the Cauvery Water Management Board and take an appropriate decision keeping in mind the state's strength.
